The Penquis Family Visit Program for Penobscot and Piscataquis Counties is currently seeking Two (2) fulltime (36 hours) Visit Support Workers based in the Bangor office with the occasional opportunity to work out of the Dover-Foxcroft and Lincoln offices. The program provides a safe and supportive environment for family visits, builds on the strengths of individual family members, and assists with resources and tools to enhance parenting skills and promote positive parent and child interactions.
The Visit Support Worker will supervise visits between children and their families, provide parent education, provide appropriate support to children and their parents and ensure compliance with program policies and procedures.
Applicants must be 21 years of age, have a high school diploma/GED and preferably experience working with children and families. Must have reliable transportation and the ability to work flexible hours, which includes occasional evenings (up to 7:00 pm) and Saturdays, as required. Must be proficient with using a computer and strong written, verbal, and organizational skills. Experience providing supervised visitation is a plus. As required by business necessity, upon hire and periodically thereafter; applicants must have a clean background check through the State Bureau of Investigation, Maine Department of Human Services, and/or Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles, which indicates no previous record of involvement with child abuse or crimes against a person, no record of OUI within 3 years, no record of probation or parole within 10 years, and must have no criminal or juvenile restraining orders within 10 years.
