Working Towards Family Reunification
Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for over 50 years, is currently seeking a full-time (36 hours/week) Visit Support Worker, based in Bangor with opportunities to work out of Dover-Foxcroft and Lincoln.
The program provides supportive visitation for families working toward family reunification. The program provides a safe and supportive environment for family visits, builds on the strengths of individual family members, and assists with resources and tools to enhance parenting skills and promote positive parent and child interactions. The Visit Support Worker will supervise visits between children and their families to provide education, and appropriate support to children and their parents, while ensuring compliance with the program policies and procedures.
You must have a high school diploma/GED and experience working with children and families and must be 21 years of age. Must have reliable insured, transportation and the ability to work flexible hours. Early evenings are required. Must have computer experience, strong communication skills, written and verbal, and exceptional organizational skills. Experience providing supervised visitation is a plus.
The starting rate of pay for this position is $16.17 per hour, and additional compensation may be given consideration with relevant experience.
Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must have background check results that are satisfactory to Penquis and indicate no previous or current involvement with child abuse, neglect or exploitation and no other disqualifying background checks as outlined in current contract provisions.
