Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for more than 50 years, is recruiting for a full-time (40 hour per week; benefit eligible) Youth Resource Navigator based in our Bangor Office.  This position will work to support youth up to age 18 who have been impacted by the opioid crisis.

The Youth Resource Navigator is responsible for coordinating services; providing referrals to

in-house & community programs; identifying and facilitating recreational group opportunities through area organizations; assist in creating and presenting curriculum for providers, parents, and community members; facilitate/co-facilitate curriculum-based group psychoeducation; be responsible for maintaining appropriate documentation to meet federal grant regulations; and network with area providers and community members to stay informed regarding available resources, services, and service gaps.

Required Qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in Mental Health, Social Work, or related field with a minimum of three years volunteering and/or working with and for young people, specifically in the areas of resiliency building, trauma, or direct social services.  Experience working with high-risk adolescents and youth preferred and must have a valid Maine driver’s license in good standing and reliable transportation. Experience with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel preferred.

Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must have background check results that are satisfactory to Penquis and indicate no previous or current record of involvement with child abuse, neglect or exploitation and no disqualifying criminal record or motor vehicle record as outlined in current contract provisions.
